SUPERVISOR 
Chief executive of the Town and chief financial officer; has responsibility for overseeing all departments and for working with the Town Board (845-526-2121; fax: 845-526-2130)

TOWN BOARD 
Five member legislative branch of Town government composed of four Council members and the Town Supervisor. Public meetings are held the 3rd Wednesday of each month and are broadcast live on Channel 20. Each meeting usually begins with a report from the major Town committees followed by agenda and budget items. A public comment period allowing Town residents to speak before the Board provides an important opportunity for the airing of positions as well as the initiation of suggestions regarding Town operations. A major issue during the 2008-2009 period was adoption and implementation of the Comprehensive Plan (Master Plan) with an emphasis on balancing growth and development while preserving the unique rural nature, natural resources and bio-diversity of the Town. TOWN CLERK
The Town Clerk is an elected official whose responsibilities include taking of minutes of Board work sessions and monthly meetings, and the maintenance of the Town’s official record center covering personal and tax information (845-526-3280; fax: 845-528-3961) 

PLANNING BOARD
A five person appointed Board charged with reviewing proposals for building projects and for ensuring compliance with applicable Federal, state, county and local Town laws and regulations; the Board meets twice each month, once in a public work session and once in a formal hearing (845-526-3740; fax: 845-526-3307) 

DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND ZONING

ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
A five member appointed Board responsible for reviewing zoning appeals which meets twice each month, once in a work session and then in a public hearing (845-526-2439; fax: 845-526-3307) 

DISTRICTS
The office with responsibility for the services and operations in those areas designated as districts within Town management (845-526-2160) 

OFFICE OF THE ASSESSOR
The Town assessor is an appointed officer charged with managing the real property assessment process and maintaining the records as well as  overseeing the collection and eligibility of exemptions (845-526-2517; fax: 845-704-4711) 

HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT
The Town of Putnam Valley has the finest highway department in the region. No matter the weather the Department successfully maintains the more than forty miles of town roads and ensures that they are clear, safe and passable at all times. The Department also has responsibility for ongoing repairs and for coordination with the Building Department in connection with new road cuts as well as support for community facilities including the new Town Park. PARKS AND RECREATION
Putnam Valley has an exciting and broad range of athletic, recreational and community activities which attract residents of all ages and interests. There is a full service new Town Park, a Sunset Series of music and evening activities, a Town Day celebration which brings all our neighbors together for a day of fun and an evening of spectacular fireworks, and a summer camp and after school program, to name just a few. CHANNEL 18 & 20 (CABLE CHANNELS)
The Town of Putnam Valley is indeed fortunate to have a full-time media professional and video coverage access on Channels 20 and 18 to government agency hearings, work sessions and many community and education events. In addition there is a lively community bulletin board providing notices of monthly meetings and activities for many of our civic and community organizations. SENIOR CENTER
Located next to Town Park the County Senior Center for Putnam Valley is a first class facility offering services, classes, meals and a wide variety of courses and activities directed at maintaining a vital and caring environment for seniors within our Town. TOWN COURT
The Town Justice Court of Putnam Valley is charged with handling criminal matters through trial level, arraignments and preliminary hearings on felonies, motor vehicle and traffic cases, harassment and trespass matters below the level of misdemeanor, and civil and small claims below generally the level of $3,000. Alleged violations of Town laws, including but not limited to building and zoning, certain County laws and various State laws (other than penal and traffic) also come before the Town Court. There are two Town Justices and cases are heard in the Court Room which is part of Town Hall. (845-526-3050; fax: 845-526-2930) 

DOG CONTROL
