Education

In l934 the Putnam Valley Central School District was created. The Elementary school was dedicated in l935 and a High School was opened in 2000 located on the Peekskill Hollow Road campus next to the Middle School which had been built some years before. There are now about 1,850 students in the three schools – the Elementary School covers grades K-4, the Middle School grades 5-8 and the High School 9-12. With plans underway for further renovations of existing school buildings in the system the emphasis on excellence in education in our Town remains high. Here, too, participation of parents and others in the academic and extracurricular activities of our children is a core resource of the community.
